KCHW NEWS REPORTS
The Chewelah Farmers Market will make a splash on Thursday, August 8, with its annual Zucchini Regatta, a crowd-favorite event that turns vegetables into racing vessels.
The fun begins at 12 p.m. at the Market Shipyard, where participants can build their own zucchini boats using biodegradable materials provided on site. Or, racers can bring their own homemade crafts from home.
The regatta is free to enter, with three age divisions and plenty of chances for hands-on fun. Sign-ups will be available at the market booth or at the Shipyard prior to race time.
The first heat launches at 2 p.m., and organizers say to “be prepared to get wet and have a blast!”
Whether you’re racing or just watching, the Zucchini Regatta promises an afternoon of creativity, competition, and laughter.
For more information, visit the Chewelah Farmers Market on Thursdays downtown from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
