The Jenkins Jr/Sr High School football program has announced the hiring of David Jackman as the new head coach for the Chewelah Cougars.

In a statement to the community, Jackman thanked everyone involved in the hiring process and said it was an honor to be named head coach.

Jackman’s coaching background includes experience with the defensive and offensive lines, special teams, and game film analysis. He also coached junior varsity defense during games and managed in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs. Prior to those roles, Jackman interned with the Spokane Empire Arena Football Team, where he assisted with various aspects of coaching, equipment management, observational evaluations, and practice and game-day setup.

Jackman said his coaching philosophy is based on trust, honesty, development of young athletes, and fun. He emphasized the importance of building a program around positivity, discipline, and teamwork.

“I want to build a program the Chewelah community will be proud of,” Jackman said.

He encouraged athletes, parents, and volunteers to reach out and expressed his commitment to the future success of the program. Jackman said he is eager to connect with the community and envisions great things for Jenkins Jr/Sr High School football.
