KCHW NEWS REPORTS
Dust off your boots and head to the Arden Arena on Saturday, September 20, for the annual Arden Old Timers Kids Day, hosted by the Arden Old Timers Rodeo Association.
This free family event kicks off with day-of-only registration from 8 to 10 a.m., with all events starting promptly at 11 a.m. There are no entry fees, but spots are limited — only 20 participants per event, and it’s first come, first served.
Young cowboys and cowgirls will compete across four age brackets (0–6, 7–11, 12–15, and 16–20) in classic rodeo events like barrel racing, steer riding, sack races, and breakaway roping. The youngest riders will have lead-line or solo ride options for horse events. Stick horse races and goat-themed contests add to the fun, with a chicken race scheduled after the main events wrap up.
Participants must be present and ready when called — no-shows after three calls will be disqualified. Those aiming for the coveted All Around Buckle must compete in at least three qualifying events.
The Addy Inn will be on hand serving up food throughout the day, and donations will be gratefully accepted at the gate to help support the event.
The festivities take place at 654 Old Hwy Arden Rd, Colville, WA. Open to the public and full of rodeo spirit, Arden Old Timers Kids Day is a beloved local tradition that celebrates youth, community, and a whole lot of rodeo fun.
